Everyone Likes Pizza, First Friday Reception

Pizza Delivery for the kids!

Across from Historic Linden Row, the Richmond Library's Main Branch hosts monthly art receptions as part of the city's First Friday artWalk celebration! Join us in the Gellman Room for Everyone Likes Pizza! by Richmond cartoonists David J Bromley and Phillip Bowles.

Part of Youth Art Month, co-sponsored by the Library and Richmond City Schools, the artists are honored to have been selected to participate in this city wide recognition of art for and by children and teens. A favorite of kids, parents and artists at comic book conventions, these inventive and brilliantly colored cartoons make their fine art gallery debut.

Mitch, a mute teenaged pizza delivery daredevil, is the star of these pantomime panels. The cartoonists tell the story without words, although double entendre titles are provided with references to popular culture from Frank Sinatra songs to Alfred Hitchcock movies.

Scenarios include delivery at sea, by land and in outer space. Hungry and demanding customers include construction workers, green aliens, barbers, Santa's elves and some very special guest stars you will not want to miss!

Come on out - bring the kids - enjoy the pizza generously provided by Bottom's Up Pizza in Historic Shockoe Bottom - and spread the word!
