Jacqueline Shultz received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from James Madison University in 2003.  In 2004, Jackie entered the graduate program in Biochemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree.  As a new student in the Chalfant laboratory, Jackie is continuing the work of Dr. Autumn Massiello on the alternative splicing of Bcl-x.  Previously, she worked in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Diegelmann examining keratinocyte function on electrospun extracellular matrices.

Jackie’s interests include:  Italian soccer (Forza Azzurri!!)reading, reality TV, traveling, and being brassy to the Lab Boss!! Sometimes, I wrangle snakes at the State Fair, and coerce my fellow lab mates into 5 pm workouts in the lab!
