Kendall Giles is currently an Assistant Professor of Statistical Sciences and Operations Research at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, and has an appointment at the Human Language Technology Center for Excellence in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Giles has over 15 years of industry work experience, most recently as a Systems Engineer at Raytheon (2001-2005), and was a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics at UCLA (Fall 2007). He received his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 2007. With over a dozen journal and conference publications, his research interests include computational statistics, high-dimensional data analysis, statistical pattern recognition, and computer network security.
