Selected Contributors:

Alison Brackenbury’s work is widely known. From Carcanet she has published Dreams of Power (1981), Breaking Ground (1984), Christmas Roses (1988), Selected Poems, (1991), 1829 (1995; produced for BBC Radio 3), After Beethoven (2000) and Bricks and Ballads (2004).

Jeffrey Wainwright has just completed a new poetry collection, Clarity or Death! His previous volume was Out of the Air (Carcanet 1999). He is also the author of Poetry: the Basics (Routledge 2004) and Acceptable Words: Essays on the Poetry of Geoffrey Hill (Manchester University Press 2006). He teaches in the Department of English and its Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Angela Leighton is a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, and has recently published On Form Poetry, Aestheticism, and the Legacy of a Word (Oxford, 2007). Her groundbreaking study Victorian Women Poets: Writing Against the Heart appeared in 1992. A volume of poems, A Cold Spell, appeared from Shoestring Press in 2000.

Ralf Rothmann is the author of over a dozen books, and his poems and novels are well known in Germany. Knife Edge was translated into English by Breon Mitchell and published by Norton in 1992.
