Score setup and notation

 

 

Study the following examples of correct notation. You be required to write all of the following musical symbols for competency #4. The example below demonstrates the correct method for setting up a grand staff with sharps in the key signature. Notice that the key signature comes before the time signature.

The following example shows various articulation markings, an assortment of rests, a tempo marking of quarter note equal to 120, and the correct way to write the flats in a key signature.

Study the following beaming examples. Notice that the stem direction is determined by the note furthest from the middle line. Also notice that the angle of the beam never exceeds about 1 space in distance.
