Map Quiz Instructions:

You will be asked to identify 50 countries for your map quiz. To study, use any maps you want and if you like, you can also use the link to the page that has blank maps.  The 50 nations you need to identify on the quiz are only those listed below. For the quiz, you will be given several maps. In the nations you are responsible for identifying there will be a letter. You will also be given an answer sheet with a list of the nations you were responsible for (so you don't have to worry about spelling). You will simply match the letters on the maps with the name of the nation on your answer sheet.

 

Western Hemisphere (6) Canada, United States, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile.

 

Europe and Central Asia (15) United Kingdom (Great Britain, England), France, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina (usually people just call it Bosnia), Serbia (what was left of Yugoslavia after most of it broke away), Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan

 

Africa and the Middle East (16) Syria, Israel, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Somalia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Burundi, South Africa, Uganda, Namibia, Kenya, Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire)

 

Asia (13) Afghanistan, China (People’s Republic of China), North Korea, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan (Republic of China), Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Indonesia, India.

 

Some quick hints on how to remember the tricky ones:

  • The Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia) are in alphabetical order North to South.
  • Iran is MUCH bigger in size than Iraq.
  • Rwanda and Burundi are in alphabetical order South to North.
