1. A car starts from rest and after 3 seconds achieves a speed of 2 meters per second. What was its average velocity during this period (use formula 4 at page 14-19)?

2. The top of a ramp is at 4 meters above the ground. A 2 kg. model car starts from rest and accelerates downhill. Calculate:

a. What is the potential energy of the car at the top of the ramp? (take the acceleration of gravity as g=10 m/s2) (use formula 11 at page 14-26)

b. Based on the conservation of mechanical energy, what is the kinetic energy of the car at the bottom of the ramp? (read the class discussion at pages 14-27 - 14-28)

c. What is the speed (velocity) of the car at the bottom of the ramp? (use formula 12 at page 14-27)
