We are looking for outstanding candidates for a Ph.D. positions in the School of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University. The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Thang Dinh on social networks, security and privacy, algorithms and large-scale optimization. 

Both M.Sc. and B.Sc. candidates will be considered.

The ideal candidate should have a solid background in
- algorithms & data structures
- programming

Academic or industrial experience in the following areas will be considered as an important advantage (not mandatory)
- machine learning/data mining
- probability
- optimization
- mathematical modeling
- HPC and parallel programming/MPI/OpenMP/Hadoop
- graph/network libraries (such as Igraph, Boost Graph Library, LEDA, and NetworkX)
- scientific computing libraries
