Tom Arodz is an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science at the College of Engineering, VCU. He also serves as the co-director of the VCU Center for Microbiome Engineering and Data Analysis (cMEDA). His research has received funding from NSF (including NSF CAREER, 2015-2020), NIH, and CDC.

Dr. Arodz earned his Ph.D. in computer science from AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland, in 2007. His dissertation on ensemble learning for biomedical problems won the Prime Minister's Award. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Arodz completed a five-year BS-MS program in CS at AGH, graduating with a thesis on machine learning methods for face recognition. Additionally, he completed a five-year BS-MS program in biotechnology at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, with a thesis exploring the effects of point mutations on protein structure.
