Cluster Ion Mobility and Ion Molecule Chemistry

We have developed a new instrument to measure the mobility of gas phase cluster ions. The instrument is also ideal for the study of ion molecule reactions. Our interest lies primarily in the study of poly-atomic molecular clusters. We have recently completed a series of experiments measuring the mobility of benzene cluster ions thru the hexamer ion (C6H6)6+. We have also recently performed experiments measuring the equilibrium binding energy of the benzene dimer, using the new instrument.
