*Separation of Variables*

**Abstract**. In ordinary differential equations, we are usually only given initial conditions. When dealing with partial differential equation, we are introduced to the concept of boundary conditions along with the initial conditions. In order to solve a partial differential equation and use the boundary conditions, we must use a process known as separation of variables. Thus, my presentation will cover this process in order to solve the heat equation and obtain Fourier sine equations.
