Why Register?

This course is entirely open. There are no passwords needed to view the materials. However, if you work the problems and want me to look at and grade your work, then you will need to register for the course.

Who can register?

Any graduate student at VCU can register. Be sure to check last semester's PHYS591 notes and look them over to see if you have the appropriate background for the course. The first exam in the course will cover our review of that material.

If you are not a VCU student but have a BS degree in mathematics or in a science discipline, you may register as a special student. Once registered, you may sign up for the course on the spot or later by telephone. A pdf file listing all of the fees and rules about refunds is available.

How does one register?

If you are already a VCU student, you can register by telephone. The VCU Spring 2005 schedule of classes (available in late October, 2004) contains instructions for telephone registration.

If you are not a VCU student but have a BS degree in mathematics or in a science discipline, you may register as a special student by going to the Student Services Center. I understand that they want actual money, so check out the fees and rules about refunds and come prepared. Once registered, you may sign up for the course on the spot or later by telephone.

I will be investigating the possibility of setting up off-campus registration so that you do not have to come here at all. Check back later to see what I came up with.

When should one register?

Spring 2005 classes on this campus will begin on January 18, 2005. It is possible to register after that, but you will need to obtain my written permission and take it to Student Services.
