Modeling of Signaling Pathways by Cellular Automata

Abstract
The presentation reviews briefly the cellular automata (CA) modeling technique and its modern version Agent-Based Modeling (ABM). Websites with downloadable software are recommended. The CA applications to modeling network dynamics, started first in our laboratory, are analyzed in detail with several case studies of MAPK and Apoptosis signaling pathways. The types of information that this kind of modeling can provide is summarized, including prediction of important mechanistic effects, strategies for pathway control, as well as strategies for fighting cancer and other diseases.
