99mTc-sestamibi

  • Sep-Pak method (alumina-N cartridge)
    1. Prepare the sep-pak by sending 10 mL of 95% ethanol/5% water through it
    2. Place a few drops of 99mTc sestamibi onto the column through the long neck side of the cartridge.
    3. Elute the cartridge slowly twice with 10 mL of 95% ethanol/5% water followed by 10 mL of air collecting all of the eluate into a test tube.
    4. Place Sep-Pak cartridge into a second test tube.

    1. Comments on this procedure
      1. When cutting the first strip at an Rf = 0.5 there may be some underestimate in radiochemical purity.
      2. In the second strip cut it at an Rf = 0.25.
      3. Either strip, by itself will determine radiochemical purity.
