  1. Comments
    1. Radiochemical purity must be greater than 80%.
    2. ITLC approach
      1. MEK and Saline can be used with two separate strips to determine radiochemical purity or
      2. Whatman#1 can be used by itself, however, caution must be taken into account when cutting the strips to separate the bound HM-PAO
  2. Another QC approach - Phase Separation Technique:
    1. Mix in a test tube:
      1. 2-3 mL of ethyl-acetate.
      2. 2-3 mL of 0.9% NaCl.
    2. Add several drops of the Tc-99m-HM-PAO.
    3. Cap the tube.
    4. Vortex for approximately 1 minute.
    5. Allow the phases to separate (approximately 1 minute).
    6. Transfer the top layer (ethyl acetate layer) to a separate test tube.
    7. Measure the activity in both layers.
    8. Determine the percent radiochemical purity:
