I have various research interests all revolving around the intersection of the self and relationships. A major line of my research involves attachment theory. Currently I am focusing on how secure base processes influence exploration both with and without partners. Another line of research involves interdependence theory. We are examining how individuals’ relationship with the environment predicts their environmental behavior. Another interest involves looking at pets as possible attachment figures and exploring the various functions that they may serve as such. I also am interested in affective forecasting when making moral and immoral decisions.
Current Projects
Currently I am evaluating data from a marital study to determine if attachment styles influence interpersonal exploration in couples. I am also involved in a large study on affective forecasting of various relationship behaviors. Another study, along the same lines, is looking at the affect of helping or hurting behaviors. Finally, I am working to prepare my thesis focusing on adult exploration and how romantic relationships influence that exploration.
