Biol 213: Genetics (Fall 2001)
Genetic Poetry Archives: Mutation, Cancer, Pop. Genetics
From the first pristine genome somatic,
Our fall from the germline's dramatic.
      We reach our last station
      By grades of mutation,
And only then are the genes static.

A G in tautomirization
Was the cause of a missense mutation.
      But it had no care,
      There was mismatch repair!
(but unfortunately no methylation)

A mutant, called retinoblastoma,
Was asked, "Are you germline or soma?
"If the first, then you're hexed,
      If the second,... Who's next?"
He just laughed, "I'm a mouse hybridoma!"

I said that I wouldn't name names,...
...but I'll tell you about one Bruce Ames.
      His test is for His,
      And his His doesn't mis,
(It ain't mice, but it's almost the sames.)

A protein called p53,
Is as needed as needed can be.
      It's not overrated,
      Your gone if mutated,
Kevorkian's dream... and it's free!

A querelous gene at a party,
Was mad at both Weinberg and Hardy.
      He, sot by inebrium,
      Reached disequilebrium.
