(please press SUBMIT button when finished)
Fall 2019

My advice on the matters for the day (as listed in the calendar):

  • Brenner et al (1961): Tuesday's the last day that will be allocated to this difficult experiment. Before coming to class, either understand the experimental system and Figures 2 and 6 with the aid of the companion or identify issues that prevents that understanding.

  • Problem Set 7: Question 3 of Problem Set 7 tests your understanding of the experiments of Brenner et al (1961). Give it a go before class. We should also be trying out Questions 1 (and 2) on the experiment of Belozersky and Spirin (1958). You might also take a look at that as well, to see if there are any technical problems.

Regarding Brenner et al (1961) and its companion:
    • Do you understand the three hypotheses they were trying to test?
    • Do you understand the principle behind the density shift experiment(s) they performed?
    • Do you understand how to connect Figures 2 and 6 of Brenner et al to the experiment that produced them?

  2. Problem Set 7
Any issues answering Question 3 in Problem Set 7?

  3. Summary of published experiment
