• Of the regulatory elements we have discussed (e.g. two-component system, sigma factors, protease,…), which are used by your pet organism?
• Specifically, what reports are there in the literature?
• Specifically, what genes are there in the genome?

Advice

• Begin with a brief introduction to the organism, what it does, and what regulatory problems it faces.
• Search the genome using genes you know about. Speculate on whether the region found is in fact functional.
• Search the literature, but don't be surprised not to find much in some cases.
• Identify all sequences you use, by genome coordinate (for finished genomes) or contig:offset (for unfinished genomes).
