Biography
Dexian Ye is an assistant professor in the Department of
Physics at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Richmond, VA. He joined
the faculty at VCU in Fall 2009. Previously he was a Research Associate (2006-2009)
at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Troy, NY. He received a B.S.
degree from Peking University, Beijing, China in 1997 and a Ph.D. degree from
RPI in 2006. His research is
in fabrication of nanomaterials
and applications. He currently focuses on growth of 3D nanostructures for
energy, biosensors, MEMS, and photonic crystal applications, and exploits
structural properties of 3D nanostructures to enhance the vibrational spectra of molecules. The
motivations of his research along this line are biological detection and
sensing, MEMS, photovoltaic cells, and spiral photonic crystals. He has co-authored many papers in the areas of nanoscience and experimental
condensed matter physics. |
