Coach's
comments.....
I was impressed with the competition today. All the swimmers were focused
at the
task at hand and I am always happy to see that attitude come through. Thankfully,
there were no stroke and turn judges present because I think quite
a few of
the swimmers may have been disqualified if that were the case.
This annual
event brings the team together and gives the swimmers a
moment
to relax before the real swimming starts.
Have
a great Thanksgiving. Enjoy the time off. Help your parents with
chores
around the house. Rake some leaves. See you Monday.

TWO IMPORTANT ITEMS
2. To compete
in a swim meet for the school you MUST have a
current team suit. There will be one exception, and one exception
only, and that is a swimmer may compete in a fastskin suit in lieu
of a team suit.
If you have not provided me, as of 2:00 PM on
November 15, 2006, with the information needed for an order
you can now place the order personally.
Vendor: Aardvark
Phone #: 1-800-729-1577
Female Suit: Competition Suits - Water Cubes
- Female Xcel Back - Green - 51845F
Male Suit: Speedo - Rising Sun - Green (003)
Jammer - 7050249 (sizes 22-28)
7050250 (sizes 30-38)
Speedo (brief) 7050251 (sizes 22-28)
7050252 (sizes 30-38)
Make sure you mention that you swim for Maggie
Walker School and you will get the team discount.
Transportation
Students
will be responsible for their own transportation to and from practice and
also to all meets. In the past upper class students, with cars, have transported
underclassmen to school after practice. Students should park on the left
hand side of Franklin Street. The right hand side of Franklin Street is
a tow-a-way zone. I stay at practice until ALL students have left to make
sure no student is stranded at VCU. I have, and am happy to, personally
drive a student to school that does not have a ride.
Maggie
Walker is on my way to work so it is not an inconvenience.
I understand
that the school has swimmers that compete year around with clubs in the
area. I encourage them to try to practice with MWGSGIS as often as they
can, however I understand they are already practicing upwards of six times
a week and they might not be able to fit any more practice time in their
schedule. I do expect them to come to our meets if they have told me they
are available. For those swimmers practicing with their club team
I require that they
provide
me this
form with the number of times they are practicing per
week
and have it signed by their club coach.
