Mary Munford's
Amazing Web Site of the Week
May 6th-May 12th, 2001

Here's a chance to visit hundreds of zoos
and aquariums through your computer screen.
It's called ZooWeb

First, here's the most popular Zoo websites in the world

Next, you may want to check on the Zoo Cams
which are live cameras pointing at exhibits in aquariums
and zoos around the world.
Sometimes you can see what a certain animal is doing right now.
Other times it may be night at the location
of the zoo you selected and all you'll see will be a black screen
The best of these when we tried them on
Friday afternoon  (May 4th) was the

Shark Cam

at the Minnesota Zoo, where we could see many fish actually swimming along with the sharks in their giant aquarium
thanks to RealAudio video streaming.

Or you can go to their Gibbon cam and click on the
"watch the Gibbons Live" link at the bottom of the page.

Here they let you move the camera
around to find the gibbons.

What's a gibbon? Here's one

Also, you might want to try the Zoo Games
that you can play on your computer screen.

One popular game is the Switcheroo Zoo

where you can switch animals' body parts
to invent new animals
Over 6,500 combinations are possible!
