This week's amazing link is called
the Flight
Tracker
and it lets you see airplanes
in flight on your computer screen.
First, go to THIS
LINK
In the section that says "track
a random flight"
click in the button that says
"graphical version"
and then click the "track flight"
button
You'll soon see the speed, the
direction, and the altitude (or height)
of one randomly chosen flight
that is now in the air.
Below that you'll see
an animation that shows
where on the map that plane
is.
If you watch for a few seconds
you'll see the plane in the picture
is moving just like the real
airplane it is describing!
You probably see more exactly
where the plane is
than anyone who is a passenger
on that plane can tell.
Some coast-to coast flights
are now showing this same
Flight Tracker of their plane
to the passengers on board!
If you go back to the first
Flight Tracker page
and look further down you'll
see you can even ask
Flight Tracker to show you a
particular airplane
in flight that YOU choose.
But you have to know which airline
and
which flight number is flying
right now.
The next time someone in your
family flies to or
from Richmond Airport, find
out their flight number
and check them on Flight Tracker!
