Mary Munford's
Cool Web Site of the Week
January 22-28, 2001

Did you ever want to say "Hi, Mr. Muzik" in German?
Or ask in Spanish for a grilled cheese sandwich in the cafeteria?

Then this week's web site is the one for you--
or anyone who wants to quickly translate ( or change)
words from another language to English
or from English to another language.

Try the Altavista Translations page at http://babelfish.altavista.com/translate.dyn

Go to the web site and you can type in a
word, a sentence, or a paragraph
and then select which language
you want it translated into.

You can read almost any web page in many different languages.
for example, click below to see
Ms. Ooghe's class web page in Spanish
Mrs. Kulp's class web page in French
Mr. Wilson's class page in Portugese
Ms. Buckner's class page in German
Mr. Bennett's class web page in Italian

Or you can type in a web page address
like  http://kidsclick.org
and see that page translated into the language you choose.

A warning though-- these translations often are not exactly correct.
Only by learning a language and its expressions
can you be a really good translator,
but sometimes this automatic translator on the web
can be helpful or fun.
