Mary Munford's
Amazing Web Site of the Week
June 3--June 9, 2001

Going to the Library can be a favorite way to spend your free time this summer.
Now the Richmond Public Library has its own website.

Unfortunately, Richcat , the public library's online catalog is not on the web yet, but clicking on the link to it here will tell you how to dial in to the catalog using a modem.

They do have a special page for children
and for Special Events at the library branches
such as the Belmont and West End branches
near the Mary Munford neighborhood

There is also a good collection of Richmond Links
that includes links to Richmond museums, theaters, and art galleries.

One very special resource is the huge newspaper clipping collection
kept at the Main Library on Franklin Street downtown

There is an amazing collection of old newspaper stories there on
famous Richmond buildings, people, businesses and even schools.
In the schools file there, we found this interesting collection of Mary Munford School stories dating back to 1953.

In these stories you'll see parents, principals, and students
from Mary Munford who were there long before you were born!

Plus several stories on the building of the school's
famous playground back in 1994, like the photo below.

Or maybe you'd like to see the stories about the famous train buried in a tunnel under Church Hill in Richmond.

In any case, don't forget to enjoy your public library this summer!
