Painting exhibited in New York and Richmond
Spanish House
oil on canvas

David Bromley is a contemporary Fauve, whose interiors and landscapes are painted in broad strokes of brilliant color, as seen in "Spanish House." Another of his oils on canvas is an atmospheric nocturnal landscape, with a yellow mansion partially obscured by a row of trees --a scene that suggests the genteel charms of Richmond, Virginia, where he lives and works. Some of Bromley's most striking paintings juxtapose interior domestic still life set-ups with landscapes seen through open windows in layered compositions that evoke a unique sense of place, much in the manner of Bonnard.
