Shoot the James

a photographic salute to Richmond’s James River

Art 6 Gallery will host a photographic exhibition March 6-March 29, 2009 exploring and celebrating the James River as it flows through Richmond, Virginia. The invitational exhibit will feature both still and video images by 18 Richmond photographic artists: from portraits by Thomas Daniel from his book series: “People of the James” to video images by Georgianne Stinnett, from the seminal landscapes by John Henley to fauna subjects by wildlife photographer Lynda Richardson and biologist Anne Wright. Images presented focus on all manner of river-related subjects from dragonflies to industrial artifacts, riverscapes to recreational portraits.

Other artists exhibiting include: David Bromley, Joseph Johnson, Rita Root, Taylor Dabney, Ben Greenberg, Tyler Darden, Ken Hopson, Mike Ostrander, Tricia Pearsall, Doug Hayes, Rosemary Jesionowski, Alan Entin, and David Everette.

The exhibition will open on First Friday, March 6, 2009 and continue through Sunday, March 29, 2009.

Proceeds from catalog sales will benefit the James River Outdoor Coalition.

Art 6 is located at 6 East Broad Street in downtown Richmond. Gallery hours are Thursday-Sunday, 12 to 4 p.m.

Art 6 is a member-run, non-profit gallery, dedicated to promoting and providing opportunity for contemporary visual and performing arts, offering education, community outreach and creative interaction.
