MIRACLES AND SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCES

A man was in his house when torrential rains came up. The water rose quickly, creating a major flood. The water was so deep that it was impossible to leave the house. Finally, a boat came along. The person in the boat yelled, 'Come on ‑ we're here to save you. Get in the boat.' The man in the house replied, 'No...I've got faith that God will save me.' And so the boat left.

The water kept rising. The man was forced up to the second floor of his house by the flood waters. Another boat came along. The guy in the boat yelled, 'Come on! It's getting worse. If you don't get in the boat, you're going to drown.' From the second floor window the man yelled back, 'No...I'll be ok. I've got faith that God will save me.' The boat left.

The water kept rising. The man was forced to his roof. A helicopter hovered overhead and the pilot shouted out, 'This is your last chance. Climb up the ladder. If you don't come now you're going to drown.' The man yelled back 'No, thanks. God will save me.' The pilot finally gave up and left.

The water kept rising. The man was washed off the roof and drowned. He ascended to heaven. He asked St. Peter for an explanation: 'What happened? I've been devoted to God and had absolute faith that he would save me. Why did he let me down?' St. Peter responded, 'What the heck do you want? God sent you two boats and a helicopter!?'
