Charuta graduated from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India. During her doctoral thesis, she explored the role of Epr, an extracellular protease, in the swarming motility of Bacillus subtilis. Currently she is working as a Post-doctoral research fellow. Her work focuses on characterizing the role of Caspase 9 alternative splicing in -

(1) the sensitivity of lung cancer cells to chemotherapy and

(2) the oncogenic transformation of non-transformed cells.

In her spare time Charuta loves to travel and to explore wonders of nature. Her dream vacation came true last year when she visited Yellowstone National Park. She loves cooking and likes to try different cuisine. She also loves to read mystery novels and one of her favorite authors is Agatha Christie.
