Requirements

• STUDENTS MUST PRE-REGISTER THROUGH THEIR ORCHESTRA TEACHER.
• Students must be ENROLLED in orchestra class.
• Students must be in 7th, 8th, or 9th grade
• Auditions are “blind” which means that the auditionees are behind a screen so the judges cannot see them.
• Students must prepare the etude for the year’s rotation and scales.

(Starting on pitch on the lowest string)

Bass – ONE OCTAVE Major Scales – C, D, A, B-flat, E-flat
TWO OCTAVE Major Scales – F, G

3. Sight reading

Auditionees will be given a few seconds to study an excerpt WITHOUT making sounds. They will then be prompted by the judge to begin playing the excerpt.
