NOTE: ignore the reading assignment in the syllabus. Read the following instead (most of which was already assigned earlier in the course): pages 52-85, 557, 580-582 in the textbook by Alter.

Marcel Strauss, after reaching the conclusion that the DA project is a total mess, has asked that you perform a systems analysis as part of an overall effort to straighten things out.

Alter describes many tasks involved in doing a business systems analysis (i.e., the seven tasks associated with Figures 2.8 to 2.14). For the sake of simplicity, perform the following summary task instead, which is still based on the WCA framework:

• TECHNOLOGY

Identify the technology (hardware, software, network, peripherals, storage devices) that a successful implementation of DA would involve. What would have to be done regarding this technology in order to assure that the implementation of DA would be successful?

• INFORMATION

Identify the information or data that a successful implementation of DA involve. What would have to be done regarding this information or data in order to assure that the implementation of DA would be successful?

• PARTICIPANTS

Identify the participants that a successful implementation of DA would involve. What would have to be done regarding these participants in order to assure that the implementation of DA would be successful?

• BUSINESS PROCESSES

Identify the business processes that a successful implementation of DA would involve. What would have to be done regarding these business processes in order to assure that the implementation of DA would be successful?

• PRODUCTS or SERVICES

Identify the products or services that a successful implementation of DA would involve. What would have to be done regarding these products or services in order to assure that the implementation of DA would be successful?

• CUSTOMERS

Identify the customers that a successful implementation of DA would involve. What would have to be done regarding these customers in order to assure that the implementation of DA would be successful?

For the purpose of this systems analysis, consider the customers to be internal customers (employees at Citibank Brazil) who would either be using DA directly or be using something that DA helps to make available to them. Also, consider the products or services to be internal products and services (i.e., products or services that a successfully implemented DA would make available for employees at Citibank Brazil to use).

In class, we will discuss the above questions. We will also discuss how well or how poorly Citibank had considered or answered these questions.

You may do this assignment by yourself or you may decide to work in a group of up to three people.
