Research interests

Broadly, I am interested in studying the mechanisms by which substances of abuse cause addiction and lead to altered behavior.  In addition, I am interested in the effects of pharmacological agents on neurological disorders.  My current research is centered on the role of the endogenous cannabinoid (i.e., endocannabinoid) system in modulating pain and inflammation, using a murine experimental model of endotoxin-induced hyperalgesia and edema.  The overarching goal of this project is to find and develop novel therepeutics for the treatment of inflammatory pain.
