Our group is interested in developing chemicals tools to understand extracellular signaling and molecular recognition events particularly as it applies to the Angiopoietin-Tie receptor-ligand system. We utilize the tools of x-ray crystallography as well as molecular and cellular biology in order to dissect signaling events at the molecular level. In addition we extensively utilize other biophysical methods to monitor and characterize protein interactions including high-throughput peptide and small molecule screening assays, mRNA display, and peptide microarrays.
