Your Story (Part II)

You are a brilliant molecular biologist whose skills have been bent by dark forces towards global mayhem. Fortunately, the product of your work was discovered a few weeks ago before it could be used to cause harm. You have been taken into custody, but it is clear that you are merely a dupe in the conspiracy. Confronted with the enormity of the evil, narrowly averted, that could have resulted from your efforts, you have vowed to devote the rest of your life to bettering the lot of humanity.

…Starting now. You want some molecular gift you might present to your species, of equal weight to the weapon you created but directed to the betterment of humankind. News of your perfidy has already begun leaking to the press, and you know you will soon be vilified beyond hope for redemption. You have thus set for yourself a deadline of December 1, 1998 to complete plans for your great work. What it is and what disease it will cure or great boon it will generate you haven't a clue. But soon you will, and it will be the most marvelous molecule ever made by human hands.

You have scheduled a meeting on December 1 to present your plans to the same committee that uncovered your previous work. You intend to convince them by means of a 20-30 minute oral presentation of the nature and value of the new molecule you have yet to invent, describing its components and explaining how it will work and what ways you have devised to overcome the inevitable obstacles to success. In addition, you will present a written report for their inspection five days after your presentation. Only in this way can you erase the evil in your past.

Good luck!
