Take a Moment to Reflect

The Twenty Questions precourse assignment was intended to help you lay the groundwork for the course by developing a clearer understanding of your personal interests, values, and sense of the future. Now it’s time to begin developing a vision and considering the mission that will allow you to make that vision a reality. That’s at the heart of the Wood Badge ticket. Along the way, you are very likely to discover that the values of Scouting form the foundation for your vision and mission.

 

The following list of questions may help you formulate ticket items.

 Consider:

A.     What aspect of the scout program that you are involved in do youth seem to enjoy most?

B.     What areas do they seem to enjoy least / dislike  / avoid?

C.     How often are activities repeated?

D.     What new programs / activities should be considered / provided?

E.     What new skills need to be developed?

F.     What new equipment needs to be obtained?

G.    How can programs / activities be changed to challenge youth / adults to improve their skills?

H.     What aspect of the scout program that you are involved in do Adults seem to enjoy most?

I.       What areas do they seem to enjoy least / avoid?

J.      What aspect of the scout program do you enjoy most?

K.     What areas frustrate you?

L.      Does your Troop follow the Troop Meeting Plan?

M.    Is your troop Adult Led or Boy-Led?

N.     Who really runs Patrol Leaders Council?

O.    Who Plans the Unit Annual Activity Plan?

P.     Does your Unit participate in the Religious Awards Program?

Q.    How does your unit recruit new members?

R.     How well does your unit retain members?

S.     Why do youth leave your program?

T.     How do Registered Adults support the unit leader?

U.     How do Parents support the unit leaders?

V.     How does your Charter Organization support your unit?

W.   How does District support your unit?

X.     How does Council support your unit?

Y.     How does your unit support your Charter Organization?

Z.     How does your unit support District?

AA. How does your unit support Council?

BB. What service projects does your unit perform?

CC. Are all of your adults Trained?

Overwhelmed? Too much information?

Yes we all want world peace, justice, and the perfect scout unit. But that's not required for a Ticket. Just five simple things that you can do in 18 months is all that's required.  Plus, these are not set in stone--if things change in the next year or so, you'll work with your Ticket Counselor and change some of your Goals. It's OK; it'll all work out. We're on your side.
